Pride Month has Passed
In case you missed it, Pride Month has just passed.
What began as a defiant celebration of same-sex attraction and hard-won gay rights has been hijacked by rampant corporate opportunism and the aggressive expansion of gender ideology. Everything from banks, beer brands, and government departments slap rainbows on their logos for a month while actual lesbians and gay men watch their hard-fought spaces, rights, and identity colonised or erased in the name of "inclusion."
The rainbow flag which once flew valiantly over the LGB community has been bastardised to now symbolise everything from corporate virtue-signaling to drag queen story hours and medical transitions for minors, leaving many of us wondering how a movement that once said "we're here, we're queer, get used to it" became "you will affirm us or else."
The spirit of Pride didn't die of natural causes; it was corporatised, commodified, and ideologically captured. Through community and getting involved, it can be brought back to life even if it does fall in the middle of winter.
