Many in the LGB Community Believe Those Rights Are Being Undermined by Gender Ideology
The Victorian Premier and Government Ministers love marching at Pride once a year, they love the flag waving, hugging a drag queen, they love providing grants to “LGBTQIA+” groups but they will not grapple with the serious issues confronting gay, lesbian and bisexual in Victoria.
To our knowledge, the Premier has not met with any LGB groups to discuss important issues. Engagement appears limited to organisations that claim to represent the entire “rainbow,” a term so broad that it fails to reflect the specific experiences and concerns of lesbians and gay men. We are shocked to learn that the Premier has never met the group Parents of Adolescents with Gender Distress (PAGD).
To the casual observer, things may seem fine in Victoria. But anyone who looks more closely will see that Victoria has become the epicentre for a number of deeply concerning developments, including:
Health care practices that target gender‑non‑conforming children and young people, promoting medical interventions that medicalise distress and can lead to sterilisation and lifelong consequences.
An education system that introduces gender ideology at primary school level.
Restrictions on lesbians holding lesbian only events.
State definitions of homosexuality that erase its meaning. In Victoria, a lesbian is defined as anyone who says they are a lesbian, including men. Likewise, gay men are now expected to accept young women who identify as men as “gay.”
Government grants directed exclusively to LGBTQIA+ organisations, now dominated by trans‑related issues, sidelining the needs of lesbians, gays and bisexuals.
Bad laws that entrench this obsession with gender ideology. Hate‑speech laws and the Conversion Therapy Act are being used to silence discussion of these serious issues and to elevate gender identity above all other protected categories. These laws are not grounded in evidence or open debate, but in the demands of the gender ideology movement.
We want the ability to discuss serious issues without fear of repercussions.
We want the harms to women and children to be recognized.
We want lesbian, gay and bisexual realities to be taken seriously.
Stop transing gay kids.
