Have Your Say: NSW Government LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Strategy Survey
The NSW Government has opened a consultation on its proposed “LGBTIQA+” Inclusion Strategy, and it’s important that lesbian, gay and bisexual people take part.
The survey only takes a few minutes, but the results will shape how the Government understands our needs and how it writes future policy.
The survey has several problems. It treats the “LGBTIQA+” as if it one homogenous group, mixing biological reality with identity categories where we have conflicting needs. It never asks for biological sex, so same-sex attraction becomes harder to describe. And some questions only unlock if you select certain answers, which means LGB voices can be lost if we don’t engage.
Even with these issues, we need as many LGB people as possible to complete it. A strong response from us helps make sure sex-based rights, same-sex attraction and clear LGB perspectives aren’t ignored.
We’ve prepared a straightforward guide to help you navigate the survey and highlight key points to keep in mind. You can read it here:
Guide to Completing the NSW Government LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Strategy Survey
Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and encourage others to do the same.
When LGB people speak clearly and consistently, we’re much harder to ignore.
